Finding Joy in the Juggle: A day in a working mom’s life of Triumphs and Tweaks

Hey there, fellow joy-seekers! It’s your blogger friend back at Finding Joy With Less, and today, I want to share a glimpse into an actual day in the life of a working mom in her late 30s. Spoiler alert: it’s a beautiful mess, but a mess filled with moments of pure gold.

Let’s start with the good stuff – because there’s always good stuff! Two nights of decent sleep (hallelujah, sisters!), a quick gym session with my hubby Harry (gotta prioritize that self-care!), and a delicious lunch with the whole crew. Then came the cooking marathon – chicken sopas for the little ones (because who doesn’t love a home-cooked meal?) and some epic fried chicken that had everyone raving (thanks, Lord, for these culinary skills!).

Now, motherhood isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There are moments, like the one with my sweet Hazel before bedtime, where frustration creeps in. (We’ve all been there, right?). While I don’t condone corporal punishment, it’s a reminder that even the most patient moms need a toolbox of discipline strategies.

Later, the familiar “mom guilt” snuck in as the house quieted down. Commercial law studies loomed, but the embers of my blogging passion reignited. Scrolling through Facebook (because hey, even moms deserve a mindless scroll!), an ad for a part-time job for my daughter sparked suspicion (red flag alert: won’t give company name?), and there’s a lot more in my mind since it quieted down.

I am looking forward to a yoga date with my daughter tomorrow! Sharing this activity with her fills my heart with so much joy. It’s a perfect example of how we can create meaningful connections, even in our busy schedules.

So, what are the takeaways from this ordinary yet extraordinary day?

  • Celebrate the small wins: A good night’s sleep, a delicious meal, a moment of connection – these things make life beautiful.
  • Embrace the mess: Motherhood is messy, life is messy. Don’t beat yourself up for the not-so-perfect moments.
  • Prioritize self-care: A quick gym session can improve mental and physical well-being.
  • Rekindle your passions: Don’t let your dreams fade away. Find ways, even small ones, to keep them alive.
  • Connect with your kids: Make time for shared activities, even just a yoga session in the basement.

Being a working mom in your late 30s is a juggling act, but it’s also an incredible journey filled with love, laughter, and growth. Let’s find joy in the juggling, celebrate our victories (big and small), and support each other on this amazing path.

If you’ll excuse me, I have some yoga poses to master with my little yogi-in-training! Remember, mamas, you’ve got this! And don’t forget to share your stories of finding joy in the comments below. We’re all in this together!
